Description

This series originally had 3 paintings, the 3rd sold years ago. They mean a lot to me because they were the first paintings I did after moving to San Diego on a total faith leap after college. My grandmother had just unexpectedly passed away, and I remember feeling her presence while I painted them. She loved color, and would dance and sing at the flowers and the sunset.

They were originally a commission for a finance bro in San Diego who had a company called “Bull Pen” or something ridiculous like that (I was 22 and naive, ok). So, I painted bulls charging through a gorgeous canyon. He ended up being a weirdo and not buying the paintings, and I’m so glad. 

They now tie my living room colors together and have been dear to me, as they remind me of the courage and wild luck I had at the very beginning of my career. I moved from Atlanta to San Digeo alone in 2015, with no money, knowing no one. I found a coffee job on day 3 and met my first entrepreneurial mentors in that very coffee shop. I can trace my entire marketing business (my main business) back to those wildly naive and courageous moments, and the paintings remind me that I’ve overcome far more unlikely circumstances than I will probably ever have to face again.
